Joe was born and raised in Oneonta, NY in a family of nine. He attended Syracuse University and earned a BFA in Acting. During his time in Syracuse, he appeared in several productions with the University, including Beirut (Torch), A Midsummer Night's Dream (Oberon), The Freedom of the City (Skinner), House Humans (Victor), and The Women of Lockerbie (George Jones). He also appeared as Jerry Goss's understudy in the Syracuse Stage production of Bug.

Since moving to New York City he has appeared in several short films including The Wingman, and Dead and Lovely. He also spends time filming shorts of his own with his troupe Celebunots. He will soon be appearing in The Meaning of Life... and Other Useless Pieces of Information, a new play by Matte O'Brian, and is in production for Behind the Eyes of a Hitman, a Long Island Films production.
